The flu vaccine is the best protection against influenza, a virus that can cause a high temperature, aches, and several days off your feet. It is given as a quick injection and takes about ten to fourteen days to give full protection.
NHS flu vaccination
Free on the NHS if you are 65 or over, pregnant, a carer, or have certain long-term health conditions such as asthma, diabetes or heart disease. We will check your eligibility when you book.

When to get vaccinated
The flu season in the UK usually runs from October to March, and immunity takes a couple of weeks to build up, so early autumn is the best time to book. It is not too late to have the vaccine later in the season if you have missed the start.
